Victoria Pitel is a Visual Artist specialising in Figurative Ceramic Sculpture

Due to the catastrophic Lismore flood in February 2022, Victoria Pitel has had to temporarily suspend her practise due to the loss of her studio and equipment, her home, personal belongings and displacement.

However, Victoria would like to thank Regional Arts NSW for their support in awarding the Cultural Tourism Capacity Grant to help acquire ceramic materials and furniture to get her studio back up and running after this devastating disaster.

Victoria investigates what it means to inhabit the human body. Her figurative forms, constructed from paper clays using traditional ceramics techniques, allow for the exploration of presence and the examination of self.

These concepts underpin Victoria's work and the way in which the creative process gives expression to ideas,

with her figures representing of states of being.

Inspiration stems from Norwegian figurative painter, Odd Nurdrum and figurative ceramic artists; Cristina Cordova and Rathbone Kelly Garrett.  With explorations into materials ongoing, Victoria successfully engages within the field of figurative ceramics.
